President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has firmly denied allegations that he had a romantic relationship with a woman employed at the President’s Office who is 20 years his junior.

Last month, local outlet Adhadhu News published a documentary in which a woman identified as Aisha (name changed), now 22, alleges that President Muizzu had a sexual and romantic relationship with her last year. The documentary also claims that the President provided monthly financial “gifts” to her during the alleged period.

Speaking at a press conference today, President Muizzu responded to a question from an Adhadhu News journalist regarding the documentary and the allegations of an extramarital affair.

“That is a definite lie. Yes, Adhadhu News, you just mentioned a video that you made. Therefore, you are agreeing that you have made a video that was built upon definite lies,” President Muizzu said.

He added that he has requested authorities to take action against those spreading what he described as false information.

Referring to “Dhon Amaa”, a documentary previously produced by Adhadhu News about the president and his stepmother, President Muizzu said the outlet was known for publishing false information and that he was not surprised by the claims.

“You are the people who made the Dhon Amaa video as well, right? You can make another video like this. I am not shocked by you saying this,” he said.

In response, the journalist said the documentary was based on a woman’s account and allegations, adding that it was not his role to determine their veracity and that such claims would require an investigation.
