A section of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, stretching from Izzuddin Jetty to Henveiru Ferry Terminal, will be closed from Sunday as asphalt works continue under the road redevelopment project in Malé City.

According to the police, the section of the ring road will be closed from 00:00 on Sunday and will remain inaccessible to vehicles until the asphalt works are completed. Authorities have also released a traffic management chart showing the area affected by the closure.

The closure comes as the first phase of the major Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project nears completion. The project contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), is currently carrying out works on the fourth segment of the road.

MTCC has reported that upgrades to the sanitation system have been completed. The company has also completed 52 per cent of works related to pavement construction, water pipeline installation, kerbstone placement and the installation of cable junction boxes.

The company is scheduled to begin providing new water and sanitation connections in the area next week as work progresses.

The redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu is aimed at improving traffic flow around the capital and addressing persistent flooding issues during periods of heavy rainfall.
