Superintendent Arif Replaces Shifan as Police Spokesperson

Superintendent Arif (R) Replaces ACP Shifan (L) as Police Spokesperson. Shifan had been appointed to the post in 2024.

The Maldives Police Service appointed Superintendent of Police Arif as its official spokesperson yesterday, the police have confirmed.

Police said Arif has assumed responsibility for providing information to the media and overseeing the institution’s public communications, succeeding Assistant Commissioner of Police Ahmed Shifan, who was handling the spokesperson responsibilities.

Shifan had served as the police spokesperson since February 2024. He also previously held the role during the administration of former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

With the appointment, Arif will now lead the Maldives Police Service’s engagement with the media and act as the institution’s primary public representative.
