Zakat House Distributes Record MVR 5,500 Per Person in Zakat al-Mal

The Maldives Zakat House has distributed Zakat al-Mal at a rate of MVR 5,500 per person this year, marking the highest amount allocated per beneficiary to date.

According to a statement issued by the Zakat House on Thursday, the funds were distributed to 2,384 individuals listed on the registry of the poor and needy as of 1 Dhu al-Hijjah 1447.

The total amount distributed under this year’s Zakat al-Mal programme reached MVR 13.1 million.

The amount allocated per person represents a 10 per cent increase compared with last year, when beneficiaries received MVR 5,000 each.

The Zakat House stated that this year’s distribution not only exceeded the amount provided in 2025 but also set a new record for the highest per-person Zakat al-Mal payment made in the Maldives.
