Man Arrested for Violating Court Order on Sealed Property in Hithadhoo

The Maldives Police Service has arrested a man for allegedly entering and exiting a property in S. Hithadhoo that had been sealed under a court order linked to drug abuse and trafficking activities.

According to the police, the individual was identified as Ahmed Zahir, 50, of Noojavaaneege, S. Hithadhoo. He was arrested under a court order on 14 June and later brought before the court to determine his remand status.

The court ordered Ahmed Zahir to be remanded in custody for seven days, the police stated.

The case relates to a property known as Laamiyaage in S. Hithadhoo, which was sealed for 90 days on 8 June 2026 under the Drugs Act following an order issued by the Hithadhoo Magistrate Court.

Entering or leaving premises sealed under a court order without authorisation during the specified period constitutes a criminal offence, stated the police. Authorities also warned that strict legal action will be taken against individuals who trespass on such properties or cause damage to them.

Police are continuing to investigate the case.
