Statistics Maldives stated that it seeks the full cooperation and support of households selected to participate in the survey.

All enumerators involved in fieldwork will wear official Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS) identification cards during visits, making it easier for residents to verify their identities.

Stated by Statistics Maldives, the survey forms part of ongoing efforts to produce reliable statistics that support national development planning and evidence-based decision-making.

The company stated that it appreciates the support extended by participating households and looks forward to their continued cooperation throughout the survey period.

The Maldives Bureau of Statistics announced the Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) 2026 in the beginning of this year, January 2026, across Malé and all the atolls.

Statistics Maldives stated that the nationwide survey would collect key data to support economic and social development planning in the Maldives. The survey is intended to assess average household expenditure and spending patterns, produce poverty indicators, update the weights used in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), measure average household income, and analyse income distribution.
