Maldives Police, US Homeland Security Sign Agreement to Combat Cross-Border Crime
The MOU was signed on behalf of HSI by Regional Attaché Earl Mattier and on behalf of the Maldives Police Service by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed.
The Maldives Police Service and the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) division have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen cooperation in combating cross-border crime and emerging security threats.
The agreement was signed during a ceremony held at Iskandharu Building on Monday, attended by senior officials from both institutions.
The MOU was signed on behalf of HSI by Regional Attaché Earl Mattier and on behalf of the Maldives Police Service by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed.
According to the police, the agreement establishes a framework for consultations, information exchange and collaborative efforts to prevent and investigate transnational criminal activities.
Police said the partnership is expected to strengthen ongoing efforts to address cross-border crimes while enhancing public safety and security.
The agreement also aims to improve investigative capacity and support cooperation in responding to evolving security threats.
