Any Maldivian With a Valid Mobile Number Can Connect PayPal to mFaisaa, Says Ooredoo

Maldivians with a valid local mobile number can now access PayPal services through mFaisaa, allowing them to receive international payments more easily and participate in the global digital economy, says Ooredoo Maldives.

The company said that the integration enables users to link PayPal accounts registered in the Maldives with their mFaisaa accounts, creating a platform for receiving funds from abroad. The company said the service is aimed at freelancers, entrepreneurs, content creators and others who earn income from overseas clients or digital platforms.

According to Ooredoo, any Maldivian with a valid mobile number can sign up for mFaisaa and either create a new PayPal account registered in the Maldives or use an existing one before linking it to the service.

To access the service, customers must ensure that the information registered on both their mFaisaa and PayPal accounts matches exactly to complete the linking process. Ooredoo stated that users’ full name, email address, date of birth and mobile number must be identical on both platforms. It also advised customers to ensure their PayPal account is registered in the Maldives and that the account currency is set to US dollars.

Ooredoo said matching account details helps verify account ownership and supports a smooth and secure connection between the two services.

The company added that the PayPal integration removes a longstanding barrier for many Maldivians seeking access to international payment services. According to Ooredoo, the service will allow freelancers to receive payments from clients around the world more conveniently, help businesses engage with international customers, and enable content creators and digital professionals to access earnings from global platforms more easily.

Ooredoo also said the service provides families and individuals with a secure and trusted way to receive funds from relatives and friends living abroad.
