Speaking at the ceremony, CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed said the agreements represent an important step in strengthening preparedness for emergency and crisis situations at the airport. He noted that as the main gateway to the Maldives, Velana International Airport requires strong coordination, clear communication, and joint readiness among all relevant agencies.

The MoUs establish a formal framework for cooperation between MACL and the partner institutions, covering improved coordination during emergencies, defined roles and responsibilities, enhanced communication channels, and joint preparedness activities.

Under the agreements, MACL will work with NDMA, MMS, and MRC to conduct joint training sessions, simulations, drills, and capacity-building programmes aimed at improving readiness and response capabilities for airport-related emergencies.

MACL expressed appreciation to the partner agencies for their continued cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that Velana International Airport remains a safe, resilient, and well-prepared aviation gateway for the Maldives.
