The Ministry of Economic Development, Transport and Trade has given applicants 14 days to complete pending Business Portal applications, warning that all incomplete submissions will be deleted from the system after the deadline.
In a gazetted announcement published on 2 July, the ministry said many applications submitted through the portal remain incomplete at various stages, including pending fee payments. Applicants have until 2:00 p.m. on 16 July 2026 to finalise their submissions.
The ministry said any application that remains incomplete after the deadline will be removed from the system.
Speaking on PSM News’ Raajje Miadhu programme, the ministry’s Strategy and Registry Service Consultant, Yoosuf Naeem, said approximately 12,500 incomplete applications are currently pending on the Business Portal.
“According to the records presently held within the system, there are approximately 12,500 applications,” he said.
Yoosuf said the ministry introduced the 14-day window to allow applicants to complete the remaining procedural steps before their applications are cancelled.
He also warned that applicants whose incomplete applications are cancelled could lose their reserved business names. If this happens, the same name may no longer be available when submitting a new application.
The ministry said it is also introducing improvements to the Business Portal to reduce future backlogs. Under the updated system, applicants will receive a comprehensive notification if corrections are required. If no action is taken within three days of the notification, the application will be cancelled automatically.
According to the ministry, the changes are intended to streamline application processing and improve the efficiency of services provided through the Business Portal.
