The Atmosphere Foundation has completed the first batch of its Dive Scholarship Programme, with trainees set to graduate on 7 July, Tuesday.

The programme provides ten participants with a fully sponsored “Zero to Hero” diving pathway, developed in partnership with Moodhu Bulhaa Dive Centre. It trains participants from PADI Open Water Diver level up to PADI Divemaster, while also covering accommodation, meals, and dive insurance. The trainees have been based in Vilimalé throughout the course.

The inaugural cohort includes five Maldivian women and five Maldivian men. Several participants have already secured employment after signing job contracts, marking what organisers described as a key step towards careers in the marine sector.

Following the completion of the first intake, the foundation has opened applications for the second batch. The interview process is already underway, with training for the next group scheduled to begin on 10 July 2026.

The Atmosphere Foundation said the programme aims to create opportunities for young Maldivians, strengthen ocean stewardship, and develop skilled professionals for the marine and tourism industries.
