Police Seize Over 3kg of Drugs, Arrest Two in Malé-Hulhumalé Operation

The Maldives Police Service has arrested two people and seized more than three kilograms of suspected narcotics during a special operation carried out in Malé and Hulhumalé.

Police said the operation was conducted on 6 July by officers from the Drug Enforcement and Counter-Narcotics Intelligence unit after receiving information about the sale and trafficking of narcotics.

The suspects were identified as 44-year-old Maldivian Fathuhu Adam Hassanfulhu and 31-year-old Bangladeshi national Shah Altabur Rahman.

Following their arrest, both suspects were brought before the court, which ordered them to be remanded in custody for 15 days pending further investigation.

Police said more than three kilograms of narcotics were recovered during the operation.

The Maldives Police Service said investigations are continuing and reiterated that officers are carrying out ongoing operations to combat drug trafficking and protect the community from narcotics-related crime.
