Court Orders Closure of Part of M. Landofgarden Over Suspected Drug Café Operations
A court has ordered the closure of part of M. Landofgarden for three months over suspicions that the property was being used as a drug café, the Maldives Police Service has said.
The closure order, issued under the Drugs Act, came into effect on Monday and will remain in place until 11 October.
Police said this is the sixth property in Malé City to be closed as part of ongoing efforts to shut down locations allegedly used for drug trafficking and consumption.
Prior to the closure of M. Landofgarden, court orders were issued to close five other locations in Malé for three-month periods since May.
The properties closed under previous orders are:
- H. Gunzar: 6 May 2026 to 3 August 2026
- M. Tharivilage: 22 May 2026 to 22 August 2026
- Part of M. Ameera Manzil: 1 June 2026 to 1 September 2026
- Ma. Seven and House: 11 June 2026 to 9 September 2026
- H. Kandufinige (one room on the first floor): 25 June 2026 to 24 September 2026
Police reminded the public that entering or leaving properties closed under court orders without authorisation during the specified period is a legal offence.
The authority said legal action will be taken against individuals who enter such properties without permission or cause damage to them.
The Maldives Police Service thanked members of the public for their cooperation and assistance in efforts to prevent the sale and trafficking of narcotics in Malé City.
