Maldives, Saudi Arabia Explore Stronger Cooperation In Trade And Investment

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State and Cabinet Member Prince Dr Mansour bin Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Al Saud have discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, with a focus on expanding trade, investment and other areas of mutual interest.

Prince Mansour, who serves as an Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, paid a courtesy call on President Muizzu at the President’s Office today during his visit to the Maldives as the Guest of Honour for the country’s 61st Independence Day celebrations on July 26.

The Saudi minister is representing Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the celebrations, following an invitation from President Muizzu.

During the meeting, Muizzu welcomed Prince Mansour and thanked the Saudi leadership for accepting the invitation to attend the Independence Day celebrations.

The President also expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s continued support to the Maldives, particularly through the Makkah Route Initiative, which has facilitated travel for Maldivian pilgrims.

Prince Mansour, in response, emphasised the importance Saudi Arabia’s leadership places on the development and welfare of the Maldives.

The discussions centred on the longstanding relationship between the two countries, which both sides described as rooted in shared faith, mutual respect and common values. The leaders also explored opportunities to expand cooperation in trade, investment and other areas of mutual interest.

Prince Mansour received a ceremonial welcome upon his arrival in Malé earlier on Saturday.
