Police Commissioner Reaffirms Commitment to Protecting Maldives’ Independence

Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed has reaffirmed the Maldives Police Service’s commitment to protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty while continuing efforts to build a peaceful and low-crime society.

In a video message issued to mark the Maldives’ 61st Independence Day, the Commissioner said the nation’s independence was achieved through the sacrifices of previous generations and stressed that safeguarding it is a shared responsibility of all Maldivians.

He called on the public to work together to strengthen peace, security and national unity, emphasising the importance of collective efforts in building a safe society.

The Commissioner said the Maldives Police Service remains committed to upholding the country’s independence, maintaining public safety and reducing crime.

He also highlighted the role of the public in nation-building, stating that young people have a particularly important responsibility in shaping the future of the country.

The Commissioner thanked the public for its continued support and cooperation with the Maldives Police Service and expressed appreciation for the trust placed in the institution.
