MACL Opens New Passenger Rest Area at Velana Airport Terminal 1

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has opened a new passenger rest and service area at Terminal 1 of Velana International Airport, adding new seating, family facilities and banking services for departing passengers.

The facility adds approximately 750 square metres of passenger seating on the terminal’s first floor. The expanded space includes a range of seating options aimed at improving comfort for travellers waiting to board their flights.

MACL has also introduced a dedicated children’s play area covering 136 square metres. The facility includes multi-level play platforms, woven mesh tunnels, rope and ring climbing features and a ball pit, providing a space for children and families travelling through the terminal.

The new area also houses a banking service operated by Bank of Maldives, offering foreign exchange services and US dollar issuance services for Maldivian travellers.

According to MACL, the new passenger rest and service area forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance Terminal 1 and improve the overall passenger experience at Velana International Airport through more modern and inclusive facilities.
