Man Arrested Over Suspected Attempt to Smuggle Drugs to Gov’t Office in Noonu Atoll

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle drugs into a government office in Noonu Atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) identified the suspect as Zaid Mohamed, 36, of Funvilu, Lhaviyani Atoll, Naifaru.

Police arrested Zaid on 26 July during a joint operation conducted by Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Manadhoo Police.
A search following his arrest found 20 rubber packets containing suspected drugs, with a preliminary weight of 7.2 grams.
Zaid was brought before court for a decision on his remand and was ordered to remain in custody for five days in connection with the case.
