Two Arrested in Malé in Separate Drug Cases, Police Seize Combined 48 grams of Suspected Narcotics
The two men, identified as 22-year-old Zayan Abdul Latheef of Hoadhadhu, Manaage, Gn. Fuvahmulah, and 19-year-old Ahmed Dhaus Abdul Qadir of Everest, V. Fulidhoo, were arrested yesterday.
Maldives Police Service (MPS) have arrested two men in Malé in connection with separate drug-related cases, with officers seizing a combined 48.1 grams of substances suspected to be narcotics.
The two men, identified as 22-year-old Zayan Abdul Latheef of Hoadhadhu, Manaage, Gn. Fuvahmulah, and 19-year-old Ahmed Dhaus Abdul Qadir of Everest, V. Fulidhoo, were arrested yesterday.
Police said Zayan was arrested in connection with allegations of drug possession, use, and trafficking after officers stopped and searched him on a street in Malé. Officers found 20.78 grams of substances suspected to be narcotics during the search.
Dhaus was arrested after police officers on patrol stopped and searched him due to suspicious behaviour. The search found 27.32 grams of substances suspected to be narcotics, according to police.
Both suspects were produced before court for remand hearings. The court ordered Zayan to be remanded for 15 days and Dhaus for 10 days.
Police said investigations into both cases are ongoing.
