Man Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Offence Against 16-Year-Old

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has arrested a 27-year-old Maldivian man over an alleged sexual offence against a 16-year-old girl in an island under Upper South Police.

Police said the case was reported on the night of July 31, 2026, and the man was arrested on August 2 in connection with the allegation.

He was produced before the court for a remand decision and ordered to remain in custody until the conclusion of the trial.

Police said the case remains under investigation.

MPS has not disclosed further details about the allegation. The police do not release identifying information in cases involving minors.
