President Concludes Ukulhas Visit After Development Discussions And Project Launches

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed have concluded their visit to Alifu Alifu Atoll, Ukulhas, and returned to Malé.

Upon arrival in Ukulhas, the President and First Lady were welcomed by members of the Ukulhas Island Council, heads of local institutions and island residents. They were accompanied by cabinet ministers, senior government officials and representatives of state-owned enterprises.

During the visit, President Muizzu attended the closing session of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) Symposium and the opening of the INTOSAI Development Initiative (IDI) Global Summit 2026.

Speaking at the event, the President called for continued investment in integrity, accountability, transparency, innovation and genuine partnership, stating that these principles will ensure future generations inherit more resilient states, stronger democracies, healthier economies and more hopeful societies.

The President also met with the Ukulhas Island Council, the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) and heads of local institutions to discuss development priorities for the island.

During the visit, President Muizzu inaugurated the new volleyball court in Ukulhas and participated in a ceremony to commence construction of the island’s Sports Complex.

The first couple also took part in a tree-planting ceremony under the Five Million Trees Planting Programme in Ukulhas.
