Public Invited to Join Rasfannu Clean-Up and Social Swims Ahead of Dhiraagu Malé Open

The public is invited to join in the Clean-Up and Social Swim events at Rasfannu on 8 and 15 August 2026 as part of the lead-up activities for the Dhiraagu Malé Open 2026 swimming competition.

According to Dhiraagu, the events will begin with a beach clean-up, followed by a social swim where participants can connect with fellow swimmers, enjoy open-water swimming, and take part in activities that promote care for the marine environment.

Dhiraagu said the events are open to everyone, with participants encouraged to bring friends and family to join the clean-up and social swim.

The Dhiraagu Malé Open 2026 will take place on 21 and 22 August at Rasfannu, Malé. Organised by Swim Maldives, the competition aims to promote open-water swimming, encourage wider participation in the sport and raise awareness of marine conservation.

Registration for the competition remains open until 9 August. Participants can compete in the 1km, 500m and 250m race categories, while this year’s event will also feature a new 500m Team Relay for friends, families and swimming clubs.

Dhiraagu said it remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen community engagement and provide opportunities for people across the Maldives to participate in sports and recreational activities.
