16 Teams Set to Battle at PMNC Maldives Fall National Finals

Sixteen of the Maldives’ top PUBG MOBILE teams will compete in the PMNC Maldives Fall National Finals on August 14 and 15, with Ooredoo Nation serving as the championship’s title sponsor, Ooredoo Maldives has announced. 

The national finals will be held as a LAN tournament at Youth Hub in Malé, with five matches scheduled each day. The 10-match competition will determine the top three teams representing the Maldives at the South Asia regional stage.

Ooredoo said that the partnership with Ooredoo Nation is aimed at strengthening the country’s esports ecosystem and creating opportunities for local gamers to progress from national competitions to regional and global tournaments.

The PUBG MOBILE National Championship is directed by Tencent Games, with the Maldives championship serving as an official pathway for local teams to advance to the South Asia regional competition.

The road to the national finals began with in-game qualifiers, with the top 32 teams advancing to the Round of 32. The teams were divided into two groups of 16, with the top eight from each group securing qualification for the national finals.

The finals will take place at Youth Hub from 4pm to 6pm and 8pm to 10pm on both August 14 and 15. Fans can attend the matches in person, while the competition will also be streamed live on Ooredoo Nation’s YouTube channel.

The top three teams from the Maldives finals will advance to the PMNC South Asia Regional League Stage, where 24 teams will compete for 16 places in the regional grand finals.

The 16 teams that advance will then compete in the PMNC South Asia Grand Finals, with the top three teams earning qualification for the PUBG MOBILE Global Open (PMGO).

Ooredoo Nation said its title sponsorship builds on its investment in the local esports community through national tournaments, inter-office and inter-college competitions, island-based esports events and other gaming initiatives.

The company said the partnership aims to provide Maldivian esports players with a structured pathway to develop their skills and compete on regional and international stages.
