The Health Protection Agency (HPA) opened applications last week for financial assistance for civil society organisations and community groups carrying out activities aimed at preventing tobacco use and reducing tobacco consumption.
The HPA opened applications on August 16 under the Regulation on Providing Financial Assistance to Civil Society Organisations and Groups Participating in Efforts to Raise Awareness on Tobacco, which was published two days earlier.
Eligible organisations and groups can apply by submitting a concept note outlining their proposed activity. The first stage of the application process will remain open for 14 days from the date of the announcement.
Applicants must also submit registration documents and their governing constitution or articles of association. Joint applicants must provide the relevant documents for all participating organisations or groups.
Two-Stage Application Process
The HPA will evaluate concept notes within seven days after the submission deadline and notify shortlisted applicants.
Shortlisted applicants will then have 14 days to submit a detailed proposal, including a breakdown of the funding requested, information on relevant previous work and a signed declaration confirming the absence of conflicts of interest.
Joint applications must also include an agreement between the participating parties.
The HPA will select and announce grant recipients within 60 days following the detailed proposal submission deadline.
Applications must be submitted online via email to tobaccofreemaldives@hpa.gov.mv. Further information is available by contacting the HPA on 3024595.
