The National Blood Council, operating under the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare of the Maldives, hosted a comprehensive two-day training workshop on Sunday and Monday to strengthen national blood transfusion practices and safety measures across the country.
The hybrid event brought together 110 health professionals, comprising 50 in-person attendees and 60 online participants. Organisers designed the sessions to align healthcare providers with national regulatory frameworks and streamline operational standards in blood management.
Throughout the workshop, facilitators trained participants on the National Standard for Blood Banks and Blood Transfusion Services. The training also provided detailed orientation on the National Guideline on Blood Donor Assessment and Selection Procedures, establishing unified criteria for evaluating donor suitability and handling blood supplies safely.
Health ministry officials emphasised that the initiative aims to enhance professional knowledge, standardize clinical procedures, and ensure high-quality blood transfusion services across medical facilities nationwide.
