American National Remanded After Loaded Magazine Found in Luggage

A 36-year-old American national has been remanded in custody for 10 days after police allegedly found a loaded firearm magazine in his luggage upon his arrival in the Maldives.
Police identified the suspect as Kobold Britain Tyler, who arrived in the Maldives by air on Monday. The magazine was discovered during a search of his luggage, police said.

Authorities have not disclosed the flight or route used by the suspect to enter the country. Police arrested him under a court order and presented him before the court today, which ordered him to remain in custody for 10 days.

The Maldives Police Service is continuing to investigate the case.
Importing weapons into the Maldives is prohibited under Maldivian law. The circumstances surrounding how the loaded magazine was brought into the country remain under investigation.
