VP and Nolhivaranfaru Island Council Discuss Key Development Priorities

Vice President Uz Hussain Mohamed Latheef met with the Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaranfaru Island Council yesterday morning at the President’s Office to discuss the island’s key infrastructure and municipal development priorities.
As per the press release by the President’s Office, during the discussion, council representatives presented several urgent development needs and operational challenges facing the island community.

The Office stated that council members presented several key development initiatives during the meeting, requesting the commencement of road construction and a new school building. In addition, the press release noted that members requested comprehensive upgrades to local athletic infrastructure, specifically targeting the football pitch, futsal grounds, and wider sports facilities.
Moreover, the President’s Office reported that council members urged the administration to expedite ongoing work on the Nolhivaranfaru Police Station, upgrade the island’s harbour facilities, and improve healthcare delivery at the local Health Centre.
Addressing the delegates, Vice President Latheef informed council members that he would present these concerns directly to the relevant government ministries and closely monitor progress on each initiative, authorities say.
