Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) is discussing additional safety measures for residents of its Amaan Udhares and Amaan Dholdhi towers, with priority to units occupied by children and persons with special needs.

FDC Managing Director Hamdhaan Shakeel said the corporation is holding discussions, under the guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, to determine the measures required to improve the safety and security of residents.

He said a decision has been made to implement additional safety measures across all units, while services will initially be arranged for units identified as requiring the highest priority.

The announcement follows President Muizzu’s call for stronger safety measures after the deaths of two young children in separate accidents.

The President said the incidents, including the death of a child injured in a road accident and a toddler who fell from a building, highlighted the need for greater public awareness and preventive measures.

He specifically called for increased attention to safety around windows, balconies and railings in high-rise buildings, while urging families and building managers to take proactive steps to protect children, persons with mental health conditions and persons with disabilities.

Muizzu also called on government institutions, corporations, civil society organisations and individuals to work together to strengthen safety measures and conduct public awareness programmes.
