High Court Judge Ibrahim Mahir has retired from his position on the High Court bench today.
Following Judge Mahir’s submission of his intention to step down, the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) accepted his request last month and granted him formal retirement. However, the exact reasons behind his decision to step down have not been disclosed to the public.
Judge Mahir was appointed to the High Court bench on September 25, 2025. Prior to his elevation to the High Court, he served as the Chief Judge of the Family Court.

His judicial career began in the Civil Court before his appointment as a judge at the Family Court in 2010. He was subsequently appointed as the Chief Judge of the Family Court in 2022.
With Judge Mahir’s retirement, the High Court, which legally comprises a bench of 11 judges, currently operates with 10 judges.
