VP Departs for New York to Attend UN General Assembly

The Vice President of Maldives, Hussain Mohamed Latheef, departed Malé on Saturday evening for New York to represent the Maldives at the High-level Week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 81).

According to a press release by the President’s Office, during his official visit, the Vice President will deliver statements at several high-level meetings and participate in bilateral and multilateral side discussions with international leaders.

He will also attend the formal opening of the UN General Debate and various official receptions held alongside the assembly.

The Vice President Latheef is to conclude his engagements in the United States and return to the Maldives on 26 September 2026.
