Police Clarify Video of Motorbike Dumped from Truck, Say Vehicles Set for Disposal

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) issued a statement regarding a viral social media video depicting a motorcycle being dumped from a truck, clarifying that the incident involved vehicles designated for official disposal.

According to MPS, the vehicles shown in the clip had previously been towed. Authorities had initially scheduled them for release; however, the owners failed to reclaim or take responsibility for them within the stated timeframe.

MPS emphasised that all disposal procedures were conducted in full compliance with relevant legal and governmental guidelines after obtaining official authorisation.

The police clarified that the video depicts vehicles being gathered as waste at the newly allocated police tow yard in Hulhumalé Phase 2, prior to their transport to Thilafushi for final disposal.
