Foreign Woman Assaulted and Robbed in R. Maduvvari; Police Probe Ongoing

Police are investigating a reported assault and robbery involving a foreign woman in R. Maduvvari.

According to police, the case was reported at around 6:04am on 24 September 2026. The woman reportedly had her money stolen during the incident.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case so far, police said.

A video circulating on social media appears to show a foreign man knocking a foreign woman to the ground, covering her mouth and threatening her. The man was stopped by a Maldivian who arrived at the scene, according to the footage.

The video also shows money scattered on the street. The woman is reportedly employed at a restaurant.

Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
