NCA Invites Maldivian Performers to Apply for Bangladesh Theatre Festival

The National Centre for the Arts (NCA) has invited Maldivian theatre groups and performers to apply for the upcoming Bangladesh Theatre Caravan 2026, an international festival showcasing creative storytelling, cultural heritage, and performance arts across South Asia.
As per the announcement on Gazette by the Centre, organisers designed the regional festival to feature artistic exchanges and talent from across the region. Theatre companies, performance troupes, and independent collectives from all eight Member States of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) can submit proposals for consideration.

Applicants can present productions addressing one or more of five core themes: Ecology, Climate & Justice; Living Heritage & Cultural Memory; South Asian Stories & Shared Histories; Contemporary Theatre; and Experimental & Interdisciplinary Performance.
Under the event’s participation guidelines, eligible productions must maintain a running time of between 50 and 80 minutes. Team sizes are required to be kept at a maximum of 10 participants—including cast, technical crew, and artistic directors, and applying groups have been instructed to ensure balanced gender representation within their teams. Additionally, productions must feature adaptable technical setups suitable for touring and various stage configurations.
The Centre notes that the festival organisers will provide selected participants with venue access, technical and production support, local transportation, accommodation, meals, media coverage, and an honorarium. International travel assistance may also be offered depending on final participation agreements and resource availability.
The NCA has instructed interested Maldivian artists and theatre groups to complete their application forms and submit production proposals via the official portal at bangladeshtheatrecaravan2026.com/open-call before the deadline on 5 October 2026.
