The Health Protection Agency (HPA), in collaboration with the World Health Organisation (WHO), has successfully conducted a three-day Breastfeeding Counselling Training aimed at strengthening maternal and child healthcare services.
The workshop equipped local healthcare providers with vital knowledge and practical counselling techniques to guide mothers and families through the breastfeeding process. Participants gained specialised training in identifying, managing, and resolving common clinical breastfeeding challenges.
In addition to direct patient care, the initiative builds institutional capacity across local hospitals to implement and sustain the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), a global standard focused on optimal infant nutrition and post-natal support.
Organisers extended their appreciation to the expert facilitators whose clinical guidance and dedicated time were instrumental in the programme’s success.
