The Maldives Constitution stipulates that Islam is the state religion and that non-Muslims cannot become citizens. The practice of other religions is restricted in the Maldives, and violations of relevant laws may lead to prosecution.
Police have not provided further details about the items or whether any legal action will be taken against the shop.
