Police Destroy Confiscated Alcohol and Illicit Cigarettes in Villingili

Police in Gaafu Alifu Villingili have destroyed a quantity of alcohol and illicit cigarettes held in police custody.

The items, disposed of yesterday, included 175 bottles and 102 cans of alcohol. These alcoholic beverages were confiscated by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) from tourists departing via Kooddoo Airport between 23 July and 20 September, and subsequently handed over to the police.

Additionally, authorities destroyed 20 cartons of cigarettes seized in connection with an illegal tobacco trade operation.

The destruction of the alcohol and cigarettes was carried out under the supervision of a specially constituted committee, in accordance with established regulations governing the disposal of items confiscated into police custody.
