President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed departed the Maldives this morning on a three-day State Visit to Pakistan from October 20 to 22, at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the President’s Office, during his stay in Pakistan, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will engage in high-level discussions with Pakistani leadership. Following the bilateral talks, the two governments are scheduled to exchange several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) spanning multiple areas of mutual cooperation.
The President and First Lady are travelling with a senior government delegation of Cabinet Ministers and senior officials.
This State Visit marks the first high‑level engagement between the two countries in a decade and coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations, established on 26 July 1966.
As part of the visit’s itinerary, a bilateral business forum will take place in Pakistan on October 22. Government Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef confirmed that the forum is scheduled to run for approximately two hours and will bring together around 300 participants.
