Faris Maumoon Declares Independent Candidacy for Presidential Elections

Faris Maumoon, the prominent leader of the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), has revealed his intention to participate in the upcoming presidential elections as an independent candidate. 

This announcement was delivered through a video message posted on his Twitter account yesterday.

In his video statement, Faris shared, “after careful consideration, I have arrived at the decision to enter the forthcoming presidential elections as an independent candidate.” 

To formalise his candidacy, Faris has collected 1,500 signatures from supporters, an essential step in the process. However, the submission of his official candidacy form to the ECM is still pending. This pivotal document will mark his formal entry into the race, solidifying his aspirations to contest the presidential elections.

MRM has selected Dr. Abdul Sattar Yusuf as the running mate for Faris Maumoon.

As the leader of the MRM, Faris Maumoon holds a position of influence within the political landscape. 

Notably, the deadline for the submission of nomination forms is set for 2 pm today.
