Saudi Arabian government has announced a significant alteration to its visa policies, allowing Maldivians to travel to the country without the prior requirement of obtaining a visa.

The Saudi government’s recent announcement encompasses a list of eight countries whose citizens can now enter Saudi Arabia without the need for an on-arrival visa or advance clearance. Among the nations included in this category are Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

In line with these changes, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has declared that individuals entering the country for purposes such as tourism, business activities, Umrah pilgrimage, and visiting family and friends will no longer be obligated to secure a visa in advance.

Notably, a significant portion of Maldivians frequently travel to Saudi Arabia, particularly for Umrah pilgrimage, throughout the year.

In tandem with the revised visa policy, Saudi Arabia has emphasised several important considerations for the public to bear in mind. Travellers availing themselves of on-arrival visas are advised to meticulously assess the validity of their visas.

Additionally, the Saudi government has underscored the prohibition against engaging in income-generating employment for those entering the country under on-arrival visa status.
