The Ministry of Higher Education has announced additional loans to the last batch of students at the Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA) in Addu City, who have yet to finish their pilot courses.

The application deadline for this opportunity is set for the 21st of this month, as conveyed by the Higher Education Ministry in an announcement made yesterday.

An audit undertaken by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in 2019 highlighted the non-completion of courses among flight school students. The ensuing report identified several factors that have contributed to the disruption of students’ learning paths.

In response, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih took measures in 2021 to address the situation. This encompassed not only support for the affected students but also the transition of loan arrangements from Bank of Maldives to Higher Education.

In an effort to alleviate the challenges faced by students, Solih unveiled an opportunity for them to finalise their pending coursework at the Academy of Aviation.

This arrangement entailed the provision of loan assistance to cover the remaining portion of the course.
