Muizzu emphasised that this move would not jeopardise the current employment positions held by those working within the island’s existing companies. He assured that his administration is committed to generating additional job opportunities, a goal that will be facilitated through a series of strategic economic measures.
Muizzu added that the primary focus of this development initiative is the expansion of eco-tourism prospects within the Maakolhu area while simultaneously preserving the area’s inherent natural beauty. Part of the proposed plan includes the construction of a dedicated jetty for local fishermen, alongside the necessary repairs to the island’s existing jetty.
Muizzu underscored the importance of establishing well-structured roads to bolster the local economy, drawing parallels with the development patterns seen in more advanced nations. He explained that, historically, road networks have often been the initial step in economic growth, and he is eager to replicate this trajectory in the context of HA.Baarah.
Elaborating further, Muizzu revealed intentions to construct a ring road encircling the town, complemented by upgraded major thoroughfares. He highlighted that the commitment to infrastructure aims to enhance accessibility for both residents and visitors, particularly those interested in exploring the island’s numerous archaeological sites.
The inadequacies of the island’s health system, catering to a population of over 2,000 individuals, were also acknowledged by Muizzu. He pledged to elevate the quality of healthcare services available and to transform the island’s health center into a multifunctional facility offering a range of medical provisions.
