Marine Piling Process Begins for Thila-Male’ Bridge
The process of embedding the pillars of the Thila-Male’ bridge into the seabed has officially commenced in the area between Male’ and Villimale as of 18th August 2023.
Funded by a USD 115 million grant, alongside a USD 400 million allocation of the 800 million line of credit provided by India, this project was handed to AFCONS on August 26, 2021.
This operation involves the participation of the second jack-up platform named Maharaja, working in conjunction with the already operational Maharani jack-up platform. Additionally, progress is being achieved in the assembly of the bridge’s superstructure.
Spanning a distance of 6.695 km, the Thilamale Bridge is designed to include both a bridge and causeway, facilitating a link between Male’, Villimale’, Gulhifalhu, and Thilamale’.
