The resolution calls for the liberation of Palestinian territories currently occupied by the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) and advocates for the right of Palestinians worldwide to return to their homeland and establish a state of their choice.

AP President and Maldives’ Home Minister, Imran Abdullah, spoke in favour of the resolution, emphasising the importance of unity among Maldivians in addressing the Palestinian issue.

He highlighted the need for collaboration among various political parties and associations within the Maldives to create an effective platform for supporting the Palestinian people.

Imran expressed the party’s commitment to working with all segments of society in the Maldives to implement the resolution comprehensively. He emphasised that this initiative transcends political differences and would involve cooperation with ruling parties, the newly elected government, and non-governmental entities.

He further noted the intention to develop a system for executing the resolution that garners broad consensus.

The resolution received unanimous approval from the 36 members present at the meeting. Additionally, a seven-member committee was established to oversee the implementation of the resolution.
