In September 2023, the Family Court grappled with a significant caseload, and it’s noteworthy that 71% of the cases brought before the court were initiated by women.

The month saw the continuation of 8 cases from the preceding month, reflecting the ongoing nature of some legal disputes.

Within this caseload, domestic violence cases occupied a substantial portion, accounting for 7 out of the total cases heard during the month.

An intriguing aspect to note is that in 7 of these domestic violence cases, the court opted not to issue urgent protection orders, which raises questions about the decision-making process and the reasons behind it.

While the cancellation of one case occurred, leaving it unresolved, there are still 7 cases pending, underscoring the workload and challenges that the Family Court faces in addressing these sensitive issues.

These statistics provide insight into the prevalence of domestic violence cases and the outcomes within the Family Court, indicating potential areas for further examination and improvement.
