The Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has announced that the signing of the land registry for the Binveriya scheme is set to conclude within the next two days.
The Planning Ministry emphasised that this marks the final opportunity for agreement signings.
Under the Binveriya scheme, a total of 9001 plots have been allocated. The Planning Ministry initiated the agreement process with land recipients in August. Concurrently, the commencement of land cutting and handover operations began on the same day.
Although the government aimed to finalise the land transfer by November, the process is still ongoing. State Minister Akram Kamaludeen informed that the agreement signing process is in progress.
He noted that agreements are now being signed with individuals who were unable to attend earlier sessions, emphasising that this represents the last chance for signing. Akram expressed confidence in completing the land agreements within the next two days.
To expedite the process, agreement signings continued over the weekend, currently taking place at Dharubaaruge.
