Muizzu Proposes Appointments of Ambassadors to Key Foreign Posts

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially submitted a request to Parliament, seeking approval for the appointment of new ambassadors to three strategically important foreign countries.

In a letter presented in Parliament, Muizzu disclosed his decision to nominate Ambassador-at-Large Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) as the next Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Hussain Shareef previously served as a Minister in the President’s Office during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen. Additionally, he held the prestigious position of Ambassador of Maldives to Japan.

Alongside Shareef, the President has chosen former Youth Minister Iruthisham Adam to assume the role of Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Furthermore, Muizzu announced the nomination of former Foreign Secretary Ali Naseer Mohamed as the Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations.

All three nominees boast substantial experience in Maldives’ foreign affairs, having served in various capacities over the years.

The matter of these appointments has been referred to the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee by Speaker Mohamed Aslam for further consideration.
