Gov’t to Conduct Four Special Audits

The Finance Committee of Parliament has instructed the Audit Office to undertake special audits for four agencies.

The entities set for scrutiny include the City Council, the Airport Expansion Project, Urbanco, and the Football Association of Maldives (FAM). The FAM is currently undergoing an audit, with concurrent investigations by the police into the agency’s affairs.

This move by the Finance Committee marks the commencement of four additional audits under its jurisdiction. Consequently, the total number of special audits slated for the upcoming year will now reach nine.

In conjunction with these special audits, there are plans for 294 finance compliance audits, 39 audit reviews, four performance audits, and four information systems audits in the coming year.

The Audit Office has allocated a budget of MVR 112.2 million for the fiscal year ahead.
