This recent case follows several reported instances in Kulhudhuffushi earlier this month, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the city to 25. Notably, the disease has thus far been identified in foreign individuals.

Filariasis is an infection affecting various parts of the body, caused by an infectious parasite that targets the lymphatic system. This results in alterations to the characteristics of the body’s organs, with the hands and feet being the most commonly affected areas.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and efforts are underway to manage and contain the spread of the disease in affected areas. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
