Deadline for Election Observers, Monitors Expires Today

The deadline to apply for the positions of observers and monitors in the upcoming parliamentary elections expires today at 3:00pm.

Vice President of the Election Commission of Maldives Ismail Habeeb said observers, monitors and candidates’ representatives play an important role in ensuring a free and fair election process.

The opportunity to observe the parliamentary elections was opened on January 31, 2024. 

Media and other interested parties are requested to submit application forms before the deadline, Habeeb said.

381 candidates have submitted their nomination for 93 constituencies. 284,337 people are eligible to vote in this year’s election.
