Ahmed Ibrahim Fulhu, President of the Island Council for nearby Funadhoo, provided insights into the incident, highlighting the remarkable size of the crocodile.

He further confirmed that the captured crocodile is currently held at Funadhoo’s Police Station, awaiting transfer to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Footage depicting the attempts of the picnic-goers to capture the crocodile has circulated across social media platforms, offering a glimpse into the unusual encounter.

While encounters with crocodiles are rare in Maldivian waters, occasional sightings have been reported.

Just last month, a crocodile measuring 9 feet in length was captured near Kandimma Resort.
