DJA Introduces Text-to-Speech Software to Expedite Court Proceedings

The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) unveiled ‘Keyli’, a speech-to-text software, during a ceremonial launch held at the DJA headquarters in Male’ yesterday. Presided over by Chief Justice Muthasim Adnan, the inauguration marks a pioneering initiative by the Maldivian judiciary to integrate advanced technology into court proceedings.

Developed by tech company Intelia, ‘Keyli’ promises to streamline court processes by expediting the transcription of court hearings. DJA anticipates a substantial reduction in the time traditionally required for documenting court proceedings, thereby ensuring swift access to court documents.

Chief Justice Muthasim Adnan, addressing the attendees at the launch event, expressed his confidence in the transformative potential of ‘Keyli’. He underscored the software’s capacity to significantly aid judges in conducting and concluding court proceedings, thereby bolstering the efficiency of the judiciary.

Hisaan Hussain, President of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC), lauded the introduction of ‘Keyli’ as a groundbreaking development for both the Dhivehi language and the nation’s judiciary. She emphasized the revolutionary impact of the software, noting that what once consumed 30 minutes to transcribe a two-hour speech will now be accomplished in under three minutes for a similar duration.
